The Product Manager will be responsible for managing and selecting all of the assigned products that support PSAV’s operations. This has broad responsibility that includes product life cycle, product marketing, and growth strategies, through final disposition. The ideal candidate will not only serve as a technical champion for PSAV’s products, but also demonstrate the ability to manage the product line by maximizing the usage and profitability of our products. This is a both an analytical and end user focused role that will demand that the manager work closely with all departments across PSAV.
Key Job Responsibilities Weight
Business Management 25%
Acts as the internal champion of their product category, creating plans and strategies to achieve current and future goals for equipment utilization, cost, and revenue targets by working with the Procurement, Marketing, Training, Sales Development and Field Asset Management teams. There will be product strategies and growth goals that are required to be created, maintained and updated on a regular basis. This role will require both sales and customer service understanding and support to best meet the current and future needs of the business.
Product Expert 25%
Acts as the product expert for assigned product categories, including ownership of product specifications. Analyzes potential partner relationships for the product, including supplier and sub-rental strategies. Work closely with Procurement on equipment strategies and pricing goals for specific vendors. Through strategies with Procurement will be required to find new products or strategies that will continue to drive out business costs.
Product Development 20%
Manage PSAV’s product offering through the understanding of unmet needs, performance requirements and technological innovations within our marketplace. Specifying market requirements for current and future products by conducting market research supported by on-going visits to PSAV operations locations and attending trade-shows. Will be required to review and recommend capital purchases and product utilization through review of business operations and business analytics
Product Council Leadership 20%
Lead the assigned Product Council, a small group of individuals that represent the various operations across PSAV. The Product Council serves as a think tank related to a specific technology, reviewing and delivering recommendations to the Senior Management team. Will need to lead and manage this process so that there are strategic decisions made to the business to improve operations on a regular basis. Will need to be able to create formal business plans, executive summaries and lead the development and roll out of sales plans for new and existing products.
Analysis and Reporting 10%
Assesses product results, including: utilization, costs, revenues and contribution. Manage reports that highlight these results in order to review and make recommendations to the Director of Product Management as well as other managers as needed. Responsible for trade-show reports, site visit analysis, and bi-annual procurement reports to name a few.
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- 7+ years of electronics or A/V product management experience
- Analytical ability and understanding of financial analysis
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, with an emphasis on Excel
- Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and customer-service skills
- Must able to travel 50%.
